Apple HomeView is not for sale in the EU because Siri AI is unavailable in iOS

Apple HomeView, the $299 smart home display Apple announced on October 13, will not be sold in the European Union. Apple says in its HomeView press release that the reason is Siri AI, which is “currently unavailable in iOS in the EU,” and that it is “working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward.”

Pre-orders opened on October 13 in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK and the U.S., and both HomeView models arrive on Friday, November 13. The EU footnotes also reach the rest of the October 13 lineup.

Apple’s exact statement

The same two sentences close both the HomeView announcement and the Apple Home Collection release:

“Apple HomeView is not available for sale in the European Union, as Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS in the EU. Apple is working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward.”

HomeView is built around Siri AI. Apple says the display “is powered by Apple Intelligence with Siri AI,” and with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, Siri AI draws on each user’s personal context. Personal content in apps like Messages and Calendar only appears when the enrolled user is recognized by their face and their paired iPhone or iPad is present and recently unlocked.

The words “currently” and “path forward” suggest Apple does not see this as permanent, but the release gives no timeline.

Where HomeView is sold

HomeView comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray for $299 (U.S.). Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted) comes in space gray and silver, also for $299 (U.S.).

Siri AI on HomeView is available in English in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. Those are exactly the eight countries where HomeView is sold, so Apple is only selling it where Siri AI works. Prices and specs are in our HomeView price and release date story.

HomePod mini 2: Siri AI comes later, not initially in the EU

HomePod mini 2 costs $149 (U.S.). Customers in the U.S. and more than 23 other countries and regions can pre-order it, with availability beginning Friday, October 30.

Apple says Siri AI “will be available in English on HomePod mini 2 via a future software update” in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.

Two footnotes matter for EU buyers. Siri AI “requires the owner of the home in the Home app to have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad running the latest software version and have Siri AI turned on.” The next line reads: “Siri AI will not be initially available in the EU in iOS or iPadOS.”

So the speaker’s Siri AI upgrade depends on an iPhone or iPad feature that will not initially reach the EU. More in our HomePod mini 2 story.

Apple TV 4K: the same footnote

Apple TV 4K (4th generation) costs $299 (U.S.) or $49.83 (U.S.) per month for six months. Customers in the U.S. and 29 other countries and regions can pre-order it, with availability beginning Friday, November 13.

Siri AI is available as a beta on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) in tvOS 27.2, at launch in English in the same eight countries. Its footnotes carry the same home owner requirement and the same line: “Siri AI will not be initially available in the EU in iOS or iPadOS.”

Apple Home Collection: U.S., Canada and the UK only

Apple Home Collection, the new accessories from LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, will be available starting in December, with select accessories available starting early 2027. No product is listed for the EU.

  • LG Video Doorbell Wired, LG Floodlight Cam, LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In and LG Indoor Cam Plug-In: U.S., Canada and the UK
  • LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, LG Smart Thermostat and LG Temperature Sensor: U.S. and Canada
  • Schneider Home Smart Thermostat and Schneider Home Room Sensor: U.S. and Canada

What it adds up to for EU buyers

  • Apple HomeView: not for sale in the European Union
  • HomePod mini 2: pre-orders in the U.S. and more than 23 other countries and regions, but Siri AI not initially available in the EU in iOS or iPadOS
  • Apple TV 4K (4th generation): pre-orders in the U.S. and 29 other countries and regions, with the same Siri AI footnote
  • Apple Home Collection: U.S., Canada and the UK only

Siri AI is what ties the October 13 lineup together, and every release that mentions it carries the same EU caveat. Until Apple and the EU find the path forward Apple describes, HomeView stays off the EU store entirely.
